Most Likely the Last Post

I had a great time at the Jamboree.  I hope that every one of the scouts had a great time.  I am sure they will remember their experience for years to come.  The trip down, getting into camp, setting up camp, going and doing different activities – STEM, rafting, shooting, zip lining, BMX, skateboarding, mountain biking, patch trading, and shows.  They will remember that the President attended their Jamboree (in 1981 the President didn’t attend my Jamboree).

I feel I was very blessed to have the group of young men that I had.  We really didn’t have any major issues.  I also had 3 outstanding assistant scoutmasters – Tom, Jay, and Ben.  They helped make my job as Scoutmaster easy.

Now for some thank you.

Thank you to the youth that stepped up into leadership positions:

  • Minh-Quan, SPL
  • Aiden, ASPL
  • Jarod, QM
  • Noah, Kieran, PL Warthogs
  • LA, PL Radioactive Squirrels
  • Ryan, PL Atomic Blackbirds
  • Noah, PL Gourmet Empanados

Also thank you to the following adults:

  • Dan Melchior, Committee Chair and ordering our banner
  • Mike Gates, ordering and distributing the t-shirts
  • Phil Ventura, ordering the patrol patches
  • Judy Camarella, Troop 1518 Committee Chair for getting us the space at Syndensticker UMC and allowing us to use Troop 1518 checking account to run our funds through.
  • Janette Regnier, Troop 1518 Treasurer for making deposits and writing checks
  • Sydenstricker UMC for allowing us to use the church for our meeting spots
  • Maria Cooper for helping out with our major challenge on day 1 of the jamboree and delivering our medicine.
  • For the parents for supporting their son and making sure they made it to the meetings, campout and to Snyder for the bus ride.
  • And, for my wife Lisa for allowing me to participate in Scouting for as long as I have.
  • I hope I didn’t miss anyone (if I did, I will just edit the post and add it later).

I’ve been back to work for two weeks and I now on our family vacation at the beach.  Listening to the waves and just chilling.

Last thing, I told the scouts – those that are not Eagle, that when they do become an Eagle Scout, that I will do my best to attend their Eagle Court of Honor – even if it is in Michigan – where I still have family.

Thanks again for the memories.
