Bus Departure Procedures

  • On Wednesday, July 19th, please arrive at Camp Snyder BY 6:30am, wearing full Boy Scout uniform – shirt, pants (shorts or long pants), socks, name tag, NCAC Jamboree neckerchief, and a positive attitude. Please call us if you will arrive after 6:30am.  703.357.6056
  • There will be hundreds of cars arriving Wednesday morning.  Please, please, please carpool.  We request to maximum extent possible that you carpool to Camp Snyder.
  • Immediately upon arrival, proceed to the area around the parking lot pavilion and find the Troop 1449 sign and place your gear behind the sign.
    • All items must fit into the duffel bag or daypack.  See Personal Equipment Checklist.
      Mark everything in your bag with your name and troop number and be certain to have a luggage tag with your name on the outside and clearly visible.
    • Place a copy of medical form and insurance identification card in a Ziploc bag in scout’s uniform pocket (he’s should carry this with him at all times). Be certain all his medications are accurately and completely recorded on his medical form.
    • Bring medications: These must be in the original packaging with his name clearly visible on the outside.  Any narcotic should have an accompanying letter from his doctor attesting to the requirement for the drug.
    • Bring two liters of water and a sack lunch.
    • We will have a donation box for canned goods for the West Virginia Food Bank at checkin.
    • After placing gear behind troop sign check in with the following:
      • Troop Scribe – Noah
      • Assistant Scoutmaster Ben Sabala – provide all medication to ASM Sabala.
        • All medication must be in its original container.  Put all medicine containers in one zip lock bag with Scouts first and last name.
  • Once everyone has arrived we will take a troop photo (7:00am)
  • Be prepared to answer the following questions:
    • Have you had a fever in the last 24 hours
    • Have you had vomiting in the last 24 hours
    • Have you had diarrhea in the last 24 hours
    • Have you had extreme fatigue in the last 24 hours
    • Have you had a rash in the last 24 hours
    • Have you been outside the US in the last 2 weeks
    • Any major medical event or change since their medical was submitted?
  • The troop will depart Camp Snyder at 7:30am.  (We have an arrival time at the Summit of noon.  Failure to meet our departure window will move the troop to the end of (a VERY long) line arriving at the Summit so we will not wait for you if late!
  • You may not have any of the following:
    • No alcohol
    • No illegal drugs
    • No drugs that my SA2 does not know about.
    • No ammunition
    • No spent ammunition
    • No firearms
    • No knives with blades longer than 4 inches
    • No laser pointers
    • No drones
    • No stove fuel or propane.
  • Time Line:
    • 7:00am Buses Arrive
    • 7:30am Buses Depart 1
    • 2:00pm Buses Arrive at Summit
  • All NCAC UNITS will be departing at the same time (this is over 480 participants)
  • All parking will be in the center of the Parking Lot in the grass area. (If you are leaving your vehicle at Camp Snyder during the Jamboree please park it at the far end.)
  • The Scoutmaster/Crew Advisor or their representative is responsible to ensure all youth and leaders have arrived prior to loading the bus.
  • The Buses will arrive at 7am and will be parked at a diagonal in front of the unit signs.
  • No on approaches the buses until ALL buses have arrived and you are told by the STAFF helping out that you can start loading.
  • The gear is to be loaded on the bus on the same side as you will enter the bus (drivers right side), once the STAFF advises your unit that you can start loading. This will prevent the wrong gear getting on the bus.
  • The unit can start loading the bus once the gear is on.
  • The Scoutmaster/Crew Advisor or their representative is responsible for ensure the proper head count is done once everyone is on the bus.
  • Once everyone is on the bus the Scoutmaster/Crew Advisor or their representative is responsible for pulling the Troop sign off the stand and putting it in the widow with the arrival time facing outward. This will let the STAFF know you are ready to depart.
  • The buses depart at 7:30am for the Summit.
  • We will travel in full Boy Scout uniform; khaki shirt and olive green pants and socks, to include the issue neckerchief.
  • We are not planning an extended stop along the way so please pack and bring snack / lunch and at least two liters of water for the trip. You may bring anything (within reason) to keep yourself occupied during the ride.  Neither the unit leaders nor the Boy Scouts of America will be responsible for loss, breakage, or theft of personal items.
